Journal Business Model

Nabawi: Journal of Hadith Studies is managed by Ma’had Aly Hasyim Asy‘ari. Since its first publication in 2020, the journal has been fully supported by the Hasyim Asy‘ari Foundation (Pesantren Tebuireng) as part of its commitment to:

  • Fostering an academic culture within Ma’had Aly and the pesantren tradition;
  • Promoting scholarship rooted in turats (classical Islamic heritage); and
  • Supporting the journal’s early development and reputation building.

After five years of continuous development and upon achieving SINTA accreditation in 2025, Jurnal Nabawi adopts a business model based on independence and sustainability. Based on a collective agreement, the journal no longer relies on foundation funding and has introduced a publication contribution scheme for authors whose articles are accepted.

Funding Structure

Authors whose manuscripts are accepted are requested to provide a publication contribution fee of Rp750,000 (approximately 45.23 USD), which is fully allocated to support editorial and technical processes, including but not limited to:

  • Reviewer honorarium
  • Copyediting and proofreading
  • Article layout
  • Journal and website management
  • DOI issuance as a permanent identifier
  • Translation services

All components are covered within the stated contribution, with no hidden fees.

This model serves as a strategic step toward the financial independence of Jurnal Nabawi, enabling it to continuously contribute to the academic culture of pesantren through professional and sustainable journal management.
